The U.S. House of Representatives remains nearly evenly divided between Republicans and Democrats, with Republicans holding a slight edge. House members face numerous challenges, from addressing inflation and immigration to protecting civil liberties, voting rights and the environment. Members are elected to two-year terms and paid $174,000 annually. The primary election is Aug. 20.

There’s not a single reason for Republicans to replace incumbent Rep. Laurel Lee as the GOP nominee for Florida’s 15th congressional district. Lee has been a solidly conservative voice in Washington whose experience, temperament and commitment to service reflect well on her constituents.
