LAUREL'S RECORD

Securing the Border, Protecting America

Congresswoman Laurel Lee is a strong voice for securing the southern border and defending American communities from the consequences of illegal immigration. As one of the impeachment managers in the case against DHS Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas, she helped expose the Biden administration’s failure to enforce immigration law—and the national security crisis that failure created.

In Congress, Laurel voted for legislation that invests over $46 billion to finish the border wall and dramatically expands the Border Patrol workforce—adding thousands of new agents, officers, and support staff. The bill funds advanced surveillance technology to stop fentanyl smuggling and provides additional air, marine, and biometric systems to track and deter illegal entry. It includes major support for deportation operations and local law enforcement partnerships, giving ICE and DHS the tools they need to detain and remove criminal aliens and protect American communities.

But Laurel’s work doesn’t stop at the border. She is tackling the crime and exploitation that stem from an unsecured system. She introduced the National Human Trafficking Hotline Enhancement Act to ensure real-time reporting of trafficking tips to law enforcement, accelerating victim rescues. Her REPORT Act, now law, holds tech companies accountable for reporting abuse and preventing online exploitation.

Whether confronting human smuggling or drug trafficking, Laurel Lee is fighting to protect the safety and sovereignty of our nation.

Growing Our Economy and Leading in Innovation

Laurel is committed to building an economy that rewards work, empowers small businesses, and prepares the next generation of American workers. She championed the permanent tax relief provisions recently enacted by Congress, including protections for middle-class families, preservation of the 20% small business deduction, and a doubled child tax credit. The legislation eliminates unfair taxes on tips and overtime, provides tax relief to family farms, expands education savings accounts, and promotes American-made manufacturing. These policies are projected to create more than 7 million new jobs and increase take-home pay by thousands of dollars a year.

She also supported efforts to cut unnecessary government spending and end fraud, waste, and abuse in government programs —ensuring that taxpayer resources go to those truly in need, not those who are ineligible or defrauding the system. Recognizing the value of skilled trades and hands-on careers, Laurel supports the PELL Act, expanding Pell grants for technical education and job training.

Laurel is also a leading voice on responsible innovation. As a member of the House Task Force on Artificial Intelligence, Laurel is helping shape the future of tech policy—working to balance innovation with transparency, protect consumers and intellectual property, and ensure America sets the global standard for emerging technologies.

Crime and Community Safety

As a former federal prosecutor and judge, Laurel Lee brings real experience to the fight for public safety. She prosecuted complex cases involving RICO, human trafficking, and child exploitation—and that same focus guides her work in Congress today.

She has voted to overturn soft-on-crime policies like the D.C. criminal code overhaul, and co-sponsored a resolution opposing efforts to defund the police. Laurel has championed the Debbie Smith Act to fund DNA testing in sexual assault cases, the Prosecutors Need to Prosecute Act to bring transparency to violent crime prosecutions, and the Lifesaving Gear for Police Act to equip law enforcement with the protective gear they need.

Because of her background in criminal law and public safety, Laurel was selected to serve on the bipartisan Task Force on the Attempted Assassination of President Trump, where she is working to ensure the perpetrator is brought to justice and that our federal law enforcement agencies take every possible step to prevent future attacks.

As a leader in the Second Chances Task Force, Laurel also works to ensure that America’s criminal justice system provides opportunities for rehabilitation where appropriate—recognizing the importance of redemption alongside accountability. Her approach is grounded in experience, informed by service, and focused on keeping communities safe while upholding justice.

Supporting Our Military and Veterans

As the daughter of a two-star Air Force general, Laurel Lee understands the deep commitment and service of military families. She is a strong advocate for our nation’s veterans, servicemembers, and their families—working to ensure they receive the respect and support they’ve earned.

Laurel co-introduced the Supporting Military Voters Act, a bipartisan effort to improve absentee ballot access for deployed servicemembers and their dependents. She supports expanding access to mental health care, improving veteran job placement programs, and strengthening benefits delivery systems to make sure promises made are promises kept.

She is also focused on ensuring a strong national defense—backing policies that support military readiness and improve quality of life for those who serve. Her work reflects a commitment to those in uniform, both during and after their time of service.

Trump, working to safeguard democratic institutions and strengthen the security of elected officials. She is also a member of the House Task Force on Artificial Intelligence, helping shape national policy to ensure that American innovation remains free, secure, and globally competitive.

Before her election to Congress in 2022, Laurel served as Florida Secretary of State, where she modernized the state’s election systems, strengthened cybersecurity, and helped lead the nation in voter integrity and secure participation. The daughter of a U.S. Air Force general and a public school teacher, Laurel grew up with a deep respect for service, integrity, and civic responsibility.
