Laurel Lee Responds to Meta’s Zuckerberg Feeling Pressured to Censor COVID-19 Content

After Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg shared a letter to House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jim Jordan (R-OH) stating that he and Facebook were “repeatedly pressured … to censor certain COVID-19 content,” by the Biden-Harris administration, Representative Laurel Lee (R-FL) appeared on Fox Business to discuss the notion of government interference on social media and the way historians will look back on the decisions those in power made during the pandemic which affected daily life across the United States.

“The whole idea of the First Amendment is that it allows us to express contrary ideas, to bring those out into the public square and let the public get to the bottom of what’s the correct information,” said Rep. Lee. “And what’s worse, history tells the story, and we now know what the data shows us about the fact that there were effective therapeutics, the fact that it was appropriate to be prioritizing seniors and the vulnerable.”
