Laurel Lee Campaign Announces ‘Veterans for Laurel’ With Over 50 Armed Service Veterans Supporting Laurel as Best CD15 Candidate

‘Veterans for Laurel’ Initiative Led by Lee’s Father, Retired U.S. Air Force Two-star General

Tampa, Fla. – The Laurel Lee campaign today announced ‘Veterans for Laurel,’ with a list of over 50 armed service veterans who have lent their names in support of Laurel Lee as the best candidate for Florida Congressional District 15. The ‘Veterans for Laurel’ initiative is led by Lee’s father, Frank Moore, who retired as a two-star general in the United States Air Force.

In just two weeks, the initiative, which continues to gather names of supportive armed service veterans, includes over 50 veterans who have agreed to list their names in support of Lee’s bid for Congress. To view the list, click here.

“I am incredibly honored to have all these veterans lend their names in support of my campaign and candidacy for Congressional District 15,” said Lee. “Being part of a military family, I know the importance of supporting our veterans and those who are currently serving. I appreciate the sacrifices they, and their families, have had to make, and that is why I am proud to have these veterans standing with me as I campaign to represent the people of CD 15.”

Moore received many commendations during his 31-year career in the U.S. Air Force and ultimately served as a Major General at the Pentagon in the Office of the Deputy Secretary of Defense.

“If anyone knows Laurel’s heart and dedication to her country, I do,” said Moore. “She’s a born leader, who is fully prepared to represent the people in District 15 and to serve us well in Congress. I know she’ll fight to make sure the voices of our service members and veterans are heard and heeded.”

“It is a privilege to be helping Laurel in her campaign for Congressional District 15, and I cannot think of a better way to help than by rallying the support of these respected veterans behind her,” said former Hillsborough County Judge Gregory Holder, who is a retired colonel and has helped in the ‘Veterans for Laurel’ initiative. “I have been a longtime supporter of our veterans, and I saw the same commitment in Laurel when we served together as judges in Hillsborough County. I am proud to support her in this way.”

In addition to the over 50 armed service veterans who have lent their names in support of Lee as the best candidate for Congressional District 15, Lee has also received the endorsements of Florida Attorney General Ashley Moody and Green Beret Jay Collins.

The newly drawn Congressional District 15 encompasses eastern Hillsborough County, along with parts of Pasco and Polk Counties.

Laurel was appointed by Governor DeSantis as Florida’s 36th Secretary of State in January 2019 and served in this position until May 2022. During her tenure as Secretary of State, she worked to strengthen Florida’s elections infrastructure and cybersecurity defenses, increased voter registration and participation, and ensured accurate and secure elections in Florida. Following Florida’s successful 2020 election, Laurel was recognized as a national leader on election policy and security. She was a member of the Election Integrity Commission for the Republican State Leadership Committee. She also served on the Elections Infrastructure Government Coordinating Council, the executive committee and as policy chair for the Republican Secretaries of State Committee, and on the executive board and co-chair of the Elections Committee for the National Association of Secretaries of State, where she spotlighted the success of Florida on the national stage. Prior to serving in the DeSantis administration, Laurel served as a Circuit Court Judge in Florida’s Thirteenth Judicial Circuit in Hillsborough County, appointed by then-Governor Rick Scott. Before becoming a judge, Laurel served as a federal prosecutor for the United States Attorney’s Office in the Middle District of Florida. Laurel has family ties in eastern Hillsborough County that go back more than 70 years.
